House of Insertion
As economic reforms have established major new cities in the Pearl River Delta, unprecedented changes are brought to villages: while families are transformed from a relatively homogeneous rural community to a heterogeneous one, newly built housing types are surprisingly generic.
Other typologies and solutions to contemporary rural life need to be investigated. The design aims to blend the old and the new, finding a contemporary alternative to the vernacular rural house. By pushing and pulling the traditional village house form, sectional spatial dialogue is enhanced within and without the house.
